England - Oxford

Amazing how quickly you can be out of London into the countryside, and stunning countryside! There are so many villages to explore, but everyone said one of the cutest was Oxford. It's really like stepping back into time - love the mix of old and new in all of Europe - train ride is short so easy for a day trip. You can walk into town from the train station and so much to do in a little town. There are the chains of course but it is still a quaint town.

Cute little streets of Oxford
 The Essentials
Restaurants: The Quod for lunch
Shopping: My favorite store was Objects of Use, as the name suggests very practical things with a lovely story attached to each one. Many other stationary stores and cute boutiques, especially nice home stores, overall home goods are much better everywhere in Europe!!

Stunning French pans...very essential

Sites: Another Bridge of Sighs, the one is Venice is way more stunning...sorry

Bridge of Sighs...part 2
Pubs: Turf Pub where the infamous Clinton line about inhaling was apparently uttered.
The University: My favorite quote from overhearing a tour guide was that the university is "nowhere but everywhere" - couldn't be more true, and a relief as I searched the map! Too intellectual for us common folk I guess, haha.

Brilliant Oxford
Great town to just wander and have a lovely local dairy ice cream - there is no point in eating skim anything in England. The butter, milk and cheese are just too good. An extra run around Hyde Park is worth the amazing taste - Jersey cows aren't legendary for nothing! Oh and if you have time before the train back to London, pay the 1GBP to climb the 'mound' at the Castle for a nice view of the city - it's a mound, don't get too excited!

View from the mound...lots of churches here!
