Thailand, Bangkok & Ko Samui

“For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

An interesting quote coming out of the pandemic and a good reminder to put energy into the good things despite how hard things are. Not an easy two years and so thankful to get out to Thailand after failed attempts and to basically have it all to ourselves over the Christmas season.

It was also nice to take advantage of some good deals including one night at the Peninsula upon landing straight into quarantine - so grateful to the lovely staff there for making that so decent! Set along the riverfront, the food, views and location are ideal. We took the water taxi everywhere and stayed lowkey as alot of things were closed or empty so it was a unique take on Bangkok.

Alot of the floating markets and tourist spots were closed, but the temples were so peaceful with no tourists - Wat Pho, the reclining Buddha - was my favourite and there is also an amazing massage school on site if you have time. There are many interesting developments on the waterfront - including the Jam Factory and across the river in the Warehouse 30 art centre.

Our favourite sunset bar was Jack's and right behind it was a local Thai place that we went to more than once because it was so good: Pad Thai Khun Chu and across the street a Thai Massage place that will mangle you into relaxation.

The main part of the trip was Ko Samui - we stayed at Kamalaya - beautiful spot with yoga, stunning views, private beach and great food. A great place to decompress and the spa is one of the best I have ever been to - simple and effective.

Much needed way to close out the year and then back to Bangkok for a NYE party that seemed like life was back to normal. To a 2022 filled with hope, health and lots of love. xx
