Italia - Rome
Though nobody can go back and make a new beginning... Anyone can start over and make a new ending. – Chico Xavier
A bit behind on my posts but felt was a good time to honour dear Italy, one of the most beautiful places on earth for all its chaos and passion and love of life. Whilst no one is traveling these days, Italy will be first on my list when we are out of lockdown and can help this lovely country get back on its feet again. Sending all the love for now...starting with some happy Roman memories.
This is not going to be a particularly useful post as I went with an Italian and blindly followed them around without paying much attention to names or places, but indulged in every glorious detail. But that is a key lesson on its own, no better place to wander and get lost than Rome. It was my first time and definitely not my last...
You really won't go wrong...best things in life are the surprises so go with it. Of course go to the big spots but wander down the alleys and in between spots - Monti an amazing little area and bars/restaurants near Ai Tre Scalini especially good.
Airbnb works best here so you can shop at the markets and live like a local...half my suitcase was pasta. We stayed close to the Vatican and made friends with the local coffee shops.
