Costa Rica- Guanacaste

Pura Vida! Rugged beaches, friendly people, nature galore, delicious fruit and a connected but remote feeling all at once. Photographer's Paradise. Costa Rica pleasantly surprised me in so many ways and I only got a sampling of all the country has to offer. Despite high season, it's easy to find an escape if you want - one of the most bio-diverse countries in the world so take in all the nature; it's breathtaking.

Beaches, Beaches, Beaches...

Must Do's
1) Eat fruit every day - juice, jam, salad, whatever it takes! Any fish preparation, especially ceviche is guaranteed to be memorable.
2) Fly into Liberia for a quiet and relaxing entrance to the country. If you like wine, definitely purchase in duty free or a grocery store in advance. Beer and Cocktails are the way to go in CR.
3) If renting a car, get an SUV and GPS - the driving/roads are for the adventurous type! And if you drive with a taxi, be aware they may leave the car running when refilling gas.
4) Remote beaches - Playa Carrillo was one of the most stunning I have ever seen and the fruit vendors along the road are worth a stop. Good paddleboarding vendors here.

5) For a few beers, fresh coconuts, surf lessons and a more lively scene, head up to Playa Samara.

5) Hotel Punta Islita is set on a panoramic hill overlooking the Pacific - service, rooms, and food are all stellar. And there is nothing better than an open air massage on the beach. The hotel is perfect for relaxing and reconnecting.
