Maine- Portland
Portland, Maine is slowly coming off its hidden gem status as the amount of James Beard Award restaurants seem to climb, but I love that the aiport is still tiny and the town still feels warm with locals. It's a quick weekend escape to cozy up and wander the streets and just relax. Here is the quick rundown of my favorites.
1) Resturants: Eventide for all things oysters, I could eat there every day! Miyake for sushi which is new but with local seafood this good, why not. Central Provisions for true farm-to-table and Cinque Terre for some local goodness. Duckfat and Fore Street next time although the drinks at Fore were amazing as we met there for cocktails with friends. Green Elephant is a great Thai place - so healthy and good, really amazing. Gelato is everywhere!
2) Shopping: this is the place to get Seabags, made out of old sails. Love them as beach bags. Venas Fizz House for adorable alcohol related gifts - including mason jars with dried fruit/bitters that you infuse with different liquors at home. Plus, there is a bespoke bar next door to taste the homemade bitters and fun drink concoctions. Lovely old bookshops and boutiques - explore away!
