Australia- Sydney, Port Douglas, Cairns

I have been to Australia twice and there is plenty more to explore! On my most recent trip, we started out in Sydney and ventured up north to the Blue Mountains and then to Port Douglas for the reef. Amazing time-  from yoga to turtles to amazing spas - there is definitely something for everyone. Traveling and getting around is easy, the Sydney airport is stunning, and I can't wait to go back to visit Melbourne and Tasmania. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the amount of dangerous creatures that lurk all around you in the wilderness. Manageable but definitely be mindful and wear the jelly fish suits out on the reef. You can be in nature or out of nature as much as you want, but it's more fun in!

The Hit List
1) Sydney Restaurants: The Winery in Surrey Hills for traditional, Mr. Wong for great cantonese and a fun setting, Cafe Sydney for stunning harbor views, and At the Summit for sunset cocktails.
2) QT Hotel in Sydney is an amazing boutique in the center of town - the robes are the best, the bar is really fun and they will help you with great yoga just down the street.
3) If at all possible, charter a boat out to the reef so you can go to an isolated area and really swim on your own - I saw a turtle so mission accomplished.

See the reef for a full day - enjoy the ride back

4) Lilianfels Hotel in  Katoomba in the Blue Mountains is lovely and quaint - it's in the Grand Canyon area of Australia. The restaurant onsite is delicious especially on a nice night when you can sit out and overlook the canyon. On my last trip, we stopped at the vineyards that are around here - very worth it!

Blue Moutains

5) Sea Temple Hotel in Palm Cove is lovely and close to downtown - a quaint resort town that is the launch pad for the reef out of Cairns. Nu Nu restaurant is great for a post reef drink or dinner

6) Qantas is amazing - best way to travel to Australia by far
7) If you really want to see kangaroos and koalas, there are a few places including Featherdale - not a huge fan of zoos but this one is small and quaint.
8) In Port Douglas, you can also take day trips to the Daintree rainforest or horseback riding on deserted beaches - incredibly memorable and one of my favorite parts of the trip
