A last minute bank holiday trip, but definitely somewhere I would consider going to again as it is rich in history, great people and beautiful scenery. More North African than European, making for stunning vistas and amazing food. Definitely stay to the south for less touristy options as the north is all resorts and crammed beaches, but still lovely.

Stay at the Palazzio 1787 in Zetjun for a few nights - amazing French hosts and old home of the ArchBishop - quiet little beaches around and almost no tourists. Close to airport so good to do before taking off.

We mostly came for the beach and spent alot of time hiking around - Gozo island is also a bit quieter and nicer beaches on that side with hidden caves and rock cliffs. I would avoid the Blue Lagoon, pretty but crowded and a bit seedy.

Didn't really plan much on this one, but worth a return trip to see more, including Valletta...
