Costa Rica Part 2 - Peninsula Papagayo

Not many times do I go back to the same spot 2x in 1 year, but Costa Rica was so amazing and such an easy trip flying into Liberia that I went in March and then again in December. Weather is amazing almost year round and it was nice and calm before the holiday rush so got better rates. We stayed further north this time at the Four Seasons on the Papagayo Peninsula which is amazing as it has ocean and bay beaches for a great mix of water activities and plenty of beautiful spots for scenery.

I saw the following quote in the little surf shop at the hotel and it resonated with me so deeply - it is why I love to travel so much and have a fire inside to see the entire world. I am so thankful for every opportunity.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

Stunning Sunsets high atop the Papagayo Peninsula

This time we tried surfing with Tropicsurf which was amazing, located onsite at the hotel - Clive and Donna from South Africa were the best teachers and managed to get everyone in our class standing up on a board day 1. It's a total body workout but really worth a try even though it's much harder than it looks - stick to the 1 foot waves and you will be fine. Highly recommend going offsite to Tamarindo, a cute little beach town to continue the classes and spend a chill afternoon.

The Essentials:
1) Covered alot of them in my first entry, but wanted to note that the Papagayo Peninsula area is much more secluded and resort feeling which is great for relaxation and is stunningly beautiful and big enough to hike around and explore, but also recommend taking a day trip somewhere else just to really get a good feeling of the area and culture. Staying here is pure heaven if you just need to shut down and stare at the shooting stars and head to the spa or beach every day, along with amazing drinks and food. Lots of nature too - howler monkeys and beautiful birds everywhere.

2) Tamarindo - have lunch at the Pangas Beach Club, very relaxing and laid back with amazing food and quiet oasis from the sun. Quick walk into town for some real surf shops, the one we loved best with the softest tee-shirts was Neptuno.

3) Exit tax - this time we had the hotel pay this for us ahead of time so we did not have to wait extra at the airport. Ask your hotel if this can be done, more time for the sun! If you do have extra time at the airport, make sure to buy coffee and the Lizano salsa for meat - it is amazing!
